About The Metal Initiative

The Metal Initiative (TMI) is the Metal Construction Association's (MCA) market development program -- focused on increasing the use of metal materials in construction by educating decision makers in the building and design communities about the benefits and applications of metal.

TMI seeks to educate architects, building owners, and contractors about all facets of metal in construction to meet the varied needs of the building team, including return on investment, maintenance cost, life cycle cost, environmental impact, recyclability, recycled content, cool roofing, useful life, and aesthetics.

TMI also seeks to dispel myths that have permeated the construction community regarding the use of metal. Misconceptions, such as metal being deposited in landfills rather than being virtually 100% recycled, have kept some construction decision makers from realizing the full benefits that will accrue when they choose metal for their projects. We welcome all interested parties to learn how the benefits of metal products can positively affect building construction and management plans.
